I appreciate this episode so much! My family is from Nicaragua, my parents and I were born in Nicaragua and intergenerational trauma is something that has been on my mind for a long time. I’ve noticed how my parent’s generation doesn’t talk about their experiences of living during the civil war as much, understandably for self preservation, but how that affects them today. A lot of that trauma has not been addressed and feeling like the need for mental health support is still very stigmatized, as I’ve seen in my own family and personal experiences.
