This is an episode going down in ¡Puchica Vos! Podcast history. We gathered 5 Central American Bay Area artists and curators to discuss with each other their art, identity, and navigating the Bay art world. We have Marabet Morales, a Chapina from East Oakland that started the Bay Area Central American Writers Group. Gabriela Alemán, San Francisco Mission-born Nica/Salvi visual artist and local Mission community organizer. Plinio Hernández, born in El Salvador then migrated to North Oakland and Berkeley, a multi-media artist and art teacher that also does work with migrants at FM4 Paso Libre in Guadalajara, Mexico. Breena Nuñez, a Afro-Guatemalan/Salvadoran comic book artist with content about her life and connecting to Central America as a Afro-Latina womxn from San Bruno. Last but not least, Jeannine Ventura who was born in the Inland Empire of California, but has lived in the Bay for the last eight years. Jeannine is the Editor in Chief at Undertone Magazine, Undertone is a creative collective dedicated to supporting womxn of color, their art, and their stories and host of the podcast¡Oye, Nenx! ¡Ya ha pasado un tiempo! Sandra estaba en México visitando a su familia y pudo entrevistar a Luis Enrique González Araiza, abogado de FM4 Paso Libre, que es un refugio para migrantes en Guadalajara, Jalisco. FM4 sirve en gran medida a los migrantes centroamericanos en su viaje a través de México. Discuten las políticas que afectan la migración en México y la información sobre los patrones de quienes cruzan el país. Esta entrevista es en español, mientras que la introducción es en inglés. ¡Apoye a FM4 Paso Libre y a las organizaciones que ayudan a los migrantes en su viaje!
Wow it has been a while! Sandra was in Mexico visiting her family and was able to interview, Luis Enrique González Araiza, a lawyer at FM4 Paso Libre which is a migrant shelter in Guadalajara. FM4 largely serves Central American migrants on their journey through Mexico. They discuss the policies that affect migration in Mexico and information on the patterns of those crossing through the country. This interview is in Spanish while the introduction is in English. This week Sandra interviews Jeevs for our Central American Diaspora series. Jeevs grew up in Belize City, but is currently studying Film in Jamaica. He has an amazing webseries called, "Homegrown Belize", on Belizean cuisine, artists, and businesses that give a local perspective. Jeevs discusses Kriol idenitity and his firm Carib and Central American identity. They also discuss environmentalism and its importance to Central America and the Caribbean. This is one of our best interviews yet!

We have a feature interview with Yanna, aka @mellamoyanna, the CEO of Brown Sugar and Canela. Yanna is a proud Garifuna woman from North Carolina with Honduran heritage. Brown Sugar and Canela is an apparel company for strong women with a strong heritage based around Afro-Latinidad and Central American-ness. Sandra met up with Yanna on a trip to North Carolina to discuss her apparel company, #CentralAmericanTwitter, Garifuna identity, Leo men, and misogynoir in the Latinx community. However, Stephanie was raised in Utah in a 95+% Mormon community. She unpacks her experience understanding the whiteness that affected how she saw herself for many years. Sam and her go into the effects of pop culture on self esteem and wokeness as a commodity.

Hello everyone were bring back the cachitos to talk about the ongoing situations in Belize and Nicaragua. We discuss at lengths the neo-colonial fight between Guatemala and Belize which is heavily racialized. Also we discuss the government suppression and murders of activists protesting the Nicaraguan Social Security reform. We hope for the safety of those in Nicaragua and those with loved ones there as well.

We go in deep as to why there are countless incididents that the US is using all four agencies to commit human rights abuses. Casey is from Atlanta, but also lived several years in both Jamaica and Panama, where his parents are from. Casey speaks about coming to his own queerness while living in both Panama and Jamaica and his life growing up in the South. Sam asks a spicy question on what is genuine allyship in a time where identity is now a commodity.
